Graduate Student Life

With 1,000+ Jewish graduate students at Rutgers, there is a thriving young, Jewish community around New Brunswick. Each group provides different opportunities to meet other Jewish graduate students or young adults in a comfortable setting.

Rutgers Hillel is committed to providing a pluralistic, comfortable space for graduate students to spend time with one another. We provide student-run graduate student Shabbat dinners and Happy Hours about once a month, in addition to other programs.

The Oneg Group of Highland Park

We are a group of young Jewish professionals and graduate students. Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment for young Jews of all denominations and observance levels in the greater Highland Park NJ area.

Once a month we hold a free B.Y.O.B. Friday night Oneg (Shabbat party) where you can come after dinner to hangout with friends, meet new ones, enjoy OU parve desserts, and have a few drinks.

We will also be organizing fun events like bowling nights, movie nights, game nights, beer and wine tastings, and trips to comedy clubs and sporting events.

The Jewish Medical Society

The Jewish Medical Society (JMS) wishes to provide an opportunity for Jewish medical students to further explore Judaism through lectures, holiday outreach programs, social programs, medical forums, and religious events. In the coming year, we hope to build on the  progress we have made in the past year. We look forward to holding a series of Kabbalah classes, sponsoring holiday outreach programs, hosting Shabbat dinners, having holiday parties, and bringing in a specialist on the topic of Jewish medical ethics.
