Learning Opportunities

Explore the various learning opportunities provided at our Hillel.

Jewish Learning Fellowship

The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a ten-week experiential, conversational seminar for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms. At the core of JLF is building a community of students who develop connections with each other and learn together. Each week, ancient and modern texts are woven together through vibrant dinner conversations and chavruta, intense study with another student. A highlight of the course is a Shabbat dinner experience where students are nourished by delicious food and mouth-watering learning. Students who complete the course are eligible to earn a stipend.

The Spring 2019 class will be Wednesdays from 7 – 8:30pm, beginning February 6th. Dinner is included. Space is limited, apply here.

Torah Study with Rabbi Victor

Each Friday at 12:00pm, enjoy a bagel and cream cheese while studying the week’s Torah portion. From traditional commentaries to Feminist midrash, and everything in between, we look at the week’s portion through a variety of lenses. What a great way to get into the Shabbat state of mind. Check the Hillel calendar for times and locations.

Jewish Sensibilities

This ten-week course delves into Jewish values and explores what Judaism has to say to us. Jewish Sensibilities can help us resist distorted images about our bodies (Tzelem Elohim), put down our cell phones and focus on what’s important (Shabbat), and argue productively (Elu v’Elu). They can help us deal with failure (Shevirah), celebrate with responsibility (Simcha) and take the next step (Na’aseh v’Nishmah). They guide us when we try to figure out who we really are (Teshuvah), what we owe to others (Brit), how to lead (Yisrael), and how to dare greatly (Lech Lecha). Students who complete the course are eligible to earn a stipend.
