Connecting to Israel, Strengthening Jewish Identity
Strengthen Your Jewish Identity With Israel
Israel Engagement at Rutgers Hillel
At Rutgers Hillel Center for Israel Engagement (RHCIE), we believe a strong connection to Israel is key to a thriving Jewish identity. Our mission is to make Israel engagement, education, and advocacy accessible and impactful for students.
We know that the more students learn about Israel, the more confident and active they become in advocating for it. By building a strong pro-Israel community, we create a campus environment that supports Israel and pushes back against hostility.
Through education, leadership development, and advocacy initiatives, RHCIE empowers students to become informed, passionate, and proactive leaders within the Jewish community and beyond.

Join Us for an Unforgettable Birthright Israel Experience
Birthright Israel is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jewish young adults to explore Israel for free on a 10-day immersive trip. Birthright offers an unforgettable journey filled with adventure, cultural exploration, and meaningful connections. Participants will float in the Dead Sea, hike stunning landscapes, explore ancient cities, and engage with Israeli soldiers who join the trip for the full experience. With trips available during winter break and summer, Birthright provides a chance to deepen your Jewish identity and experience Israel in a way that goes beyond tourism.
Birthright Israel is open to Jewish young adults aged 18-26 who have not previously participated in an organized peer trip to Israel after the age of 18. To qualify, participants must have at least one Jewish parent or have converted through a recognized Jewish denomination. A refundable deposit is required upon registration, and participants are responsible for their transportation to the departure location (usually in the New York area), one meal per day, and a $100 tip for tour providers. Non-Rutgers students may apply for the Rutgers trip, but priority is given to Rutgers students. Spots are limited, and while registration does not guarantee a place, efforts are made to accommodate as many applicants as possible.
