Am Yisrael Chai

By Galina Eilyuk ’16

A climax is about to spread,

The deepening of prayers at their peak.

Yearning for a light, so pure yet mislead.

Huddling and shaking, shedding only but a tear.

Shema Yisrael, the voice embedded within.

A wall so powerful, motionless fear.

Bombs exploding, soldiers falling.

A community slowly dying down.

Lacking peace of mind, it’s calling.

Am Yisrael Chai, Am Yisrael Chai.

Invoke power, Invoke Strength, Invoke Life
